Saturday Gone
‘Saturday Gone’ is an anchor piece intended for a collector drawn to work with a strong philosophical undercurrent. For me, it goes beyond portraiture; it functions as a visual essay on legacy and growth. The piece explores a pivotal transition—the moment a young man relinquishes the “Saturday morning” of childhood in exchange for a singular, forward-facing vision of his future.
The gold leaf accents establish a visual rhythm, acting as a “silent observer”. The whole idea was for it to shift and glow as the room's ambient light changes throughout the day. I also didn't want the work to "demand" attention but command it through a quiet, palpable authority. It's the discipline of the self-made and the weight of ancestral wisdom; a tribute to the authority one ultimately claims for oneself.
